Yes, you can setup different calendar per project. But, you will have to create those many calendars in the application.

To create a calendar, follow steps below :

    1. On the main menu, click Settings, and then click Company.
    2. In the Company section, click Manage Work Calendars.
    3. Click on Create New.
    4. Enter a name for this Work Calendar, pick a time zone and set the working hours for the same.
    5. Select resources to add to the new calendar and click Save. Your new work calendar is saved.

Now, go to a new/edit project page, Under the 'Options' section, select your calendar from the 'Work Calendar' drop-down. All the new tasks in this project will be scheduled as per the selected work calendar

Thx for the tip, however it seems that the working hours are independant from the work calendars.

For a project A i wish to have : 12 hours /d from Sunday to Thursday

For a project B i wish to have: 8 hours / d from Monday to Friday.

For both project I wish to assign an identical resource.

It seems that the work calendar set up will doesn't not allow to assign two different work calendar + work hours to an identical resource on two different project.

    Can you clarify?

When you assign a resource to a task, then the work timings associated with the resource's working calendar are applied when you create a task.

Let me know if you still have any doubts.

Correct me if i'm wrong but what you're saying is that a work calendar is associated to a resource only regardless of the project.

If this is the case than it is disturbing in a way that Resource "Eric" could be assigned to a task from a Project  A in Execution with a particular work calendar (Say Monday to Friday 8h/day) but couldn't not be assigned on a task from a future Project B in planning in which Resource "Eric" is working from Sunday to Thursday 12h/Week.

Either Resource "Eric" is under Monday to Friday 8h/D calendar, either he's under Sunday to Thursday calendar 12h/day, but he can't be both. This means that task duration will be affected on one project or another.

If i rephrase my request: Is there a way to apply a work calendar per project and not only per resource ?

    Thx

The project calendar comes into picture when the resource is still not assigned to tasks. When you assign a resource on a task, the resource working calendar comes into picture. A resource can be associated with one calendar only.

Why isn't the system able to consider that a resource is affected on two or more different projects and that these projects have different work calendar.

Is there a work around for this issue?

    Good Morning Rashmi,

I'm working with Eric Guillemin who post the last comment  1 year ago. Unfortunately we are still facing the same issue.

Actually on CELOXIS it is impossible to assign a ressource to 2 different working calendar who works on 2 different project .

For example: Ressource 1 is assign to project A ( working time 8h/day)     AND

                                                                        to project B (working/time 10h/day)

Project A and Project B are scheduled in the same time period.

Even if we assign a  specific Working Calendar to a Project : Sunday to Thursday 10h ( see attached file )

We cannot set up a specific Man-Day for a specific project.  Considering actual CELOXIS system :The value entered as Man-Day has to be the same for all the project we keyed-in CELOXIS.

Actually we put 8h as Man-Day ( see attached file Managing Work Calendar) but we need 10h as Man-Day for a specific project and CELOXIS doesn't allow to proceed.

Do you have any suggestions in order to troubleshoot this major issue we are facing.

    Thank you for your help,

    Apologies for the delayed response.

As mentioned earlier, a resource can be associated with one project calendar only. Also, when you assign a resource on a calendar, the resource's work calendar comes into picture and not the project's work calendar.

In real life scenario a resource cannot work on 2 different projects simultaneously which also have a different time. Hence, assigning a single work calendar is satisfactory in most cases.

However, can you elaborate your requirement more clearly so that I can suggest a workaround if possible.

Thank you for the clarifications you provided to us.

The major issue we are facing is related to the Work Hours calculated in the Task Worksheet.

It comes from the value entered in the "Manage Work Calendar Module" : 1 Man-Day  =  8 hours ( for example)

This value will affect all our project, even those which are configured with 10 working hours/day. We would like to have the possibility to set up different Man-Day ( 8, 10, 12 ).

I would like to know, please, if there is any improvements of the systems with the Celoxis updated version ?

    Hi Rashmi,

This topic is being discussed for over a year now...

Getting back to your last comment, in real life scenario a resource can, in many cases, be assigned to two different calendars

For instance: A resource can be currently working on a 8mhrs/d schedule and be assigned to a futur project (in planning phase) of a 12mhrs/d schedule

The fact that the working calendar is directly linked to a resource instead of a project has no particular benefit whatsoever and is contradictory to the scale settings feature (Company settings VS Project specific settings)

I might be missing a point here, please do clarify on the absence of such feature.

    Best Rgds,

    Eric

I do agree that some cases the project's work calendar should take precedence than the resource. However, we use the 80-20 rule which says that most of our customers expect the resource work calendar to take precedence.

However, I would suggest that you post your request in our Feature Request forum. If many users, vote on the same, my engineering team might consider this.
