Hi Felix. This is a critical usecase for us as well. We are relatively new to Celoxis but trying to get up to speed quickly. Based on the v2 API, we are working on it now.

Did you make any progress with it yet? Are you still stuck?

We are hoping to use either PowerQuery within Excel or PowerBI to do a simple GET of all tasks and data to use for reporting purposes and combining with internal company data.

I can tell you this much, we were able to get the API to return via a Windows command line, but have not progressed yet to PowerBI. The Windows command line results were promising so we hope that it will be straightforward to come up with something that PowerQuery / PowerBI can use.To start, in Windows we had to replace the recommended single quote [ ' ] with double quotes [ " ] like this:

    curl -g -X GET -H "Content-Type: application/json" -H "Authorization: bearer YOUR_PRIVATE_TOKEN" "https://app.celoxis.com/psa/api/v2/tasks"

Celoxis are not PowerBI experts, so beyond giving me the correct connection string they advised contacting Microsoft support to make that string work with PowerBI. Around we go...

We have some technical staff working with our reporting tools. I hope this will be trivial to implement.

We intend to share with this community / Opensource our results. We'll keep everyone posted.

I played around with it for a few weeks then gave up. I posted something on the Microsoft board but I really didn't have the expertise to get any further. My team has been discussing the possibility of passing the reports to local via api call to a local SQL instance then connect PowerBI to that. Inefficient as it may be, it should work for a daily updated report.

We have a Financial benefit tracking use case where various tasks in the WBS or custom ToDo (we are not sure which right now) will be pulled into PowerBI to do dashboards, cumulative rollups, comparison to budget targets from other data sources, etc.

We are already pulling project header field data into PowerBI directly. It should theoretically connect to any view in Celoxis. We'll share our results soon.

I found it odd that a 'regular' user couldn't just do this in PowerBI or Excel PowerQuery. Searching around in Microsoft's material for 'curl' compatibility in API queries gave various results of "tried and failed" or "not supported". It seems like something that should just work.

Hang in there and we'll share what we have soon - hopefully it will help.
