Our team is not happy with this update. It's quite rough around the edges. There are some things you have fixed from our last round of feedback, but then other issues that you have introduced with this update.
You have rolled this out without collecting new feedback since the previous beta. This is bad customer experience.
The loss of the ability to schedule resources via hour increments within 1 task has my organization considering other software tools. Rolling to v15 has been a major downgrade in the power of the tool for managing resource allocations week-to-week.Β
I need more time in v15 to determine whether the UI changes have any efficiency gains anywhere, but at our organization we manage shared resources across 20-30 projects, and the loss of the ability to enter time in hours results in huge efficiency losses in resource management. The efficiency loss is to the point that we would pay more for the v14 version of the tool than for the v15 version and we are actively looking at competitive tools.Β
This update has numerous problems, which have been noted by other users in the notes above.Β This is just a partial list after 1 day of use.
1. Removing the ability to schedule resources using planned effort hours significantly impairs the ability to balance the workload when resources are shared across different projects.Β Balancing the Workload (by resource) seems much more challenging.Β It is unclear why you made this change since Celoxis already has to calculate the effort by resource (in hours) for the Workload report -- so why not allow the user to enter the effort in hours instead of percentage?
2. The Resource "Units" does not appear to be calculating properly.Β A task with duration 2 days and total planned effort of 24 hours shared across 3 resources is showing 16% units for one resource, 8% units for second resource, 0% units for third resource.Β This totals only 3.84 hours.Β This makes no sense.Β I had saved a backup prior to the upgrade and it was 16h to one resource, 8h to a second resource, 0h to the third resource.Β 16+8h = 24h total planned effort is correct; how did the hours get converted to % units??
3. Timesheet - no "close" button to return to previous page.Β Buggy - various UX issues our team has experienced.Β Hard to see the project name (small font / light gray).
4. Approvals > Approve Time - much harder to use. Cannot easily select multiple users to see all time entries at once.Β No close / back button to return to previous screen.
5. Gantt - page view has less visible space, not more.Β Printing Gantt schedule issues.Β Fit option for schedule view scaling does not work.Β Enter key after editing creates a new task.Β So you have to click out of a task in order to not create a new task unintentionally?Β And then type "delete" to delete it?
6. Reports - numerous formatting issues with printing.
It'd be great to have the option to roll back to the old UI while the new one is being beta tested.
Β
To be blunt, I haven't come across one change that has been an improvement. Even navigating the interface is now a chore.
The list goes on, but V15 is a downgrade in every way we use the product. If the UI moves forward in this state, we won't be renewing our license.
After using Celoxis v15 for over a week, I can confidently say it provides no meaningful improvement over v14 for our business. If the primary objective of v15 was to enhance UI/UX and overall efficiency, Celoxis has unfortunately fallen way short.
Roll this update back, or we are moving on. We have spent years working within Celoxis and its structure. If we had wanted to learn a NEW tool, we would have gone out and found one... guess what... now we are looking at alternative solutions...Β
Thank you everyone for sharing such detailed feedback. I want to respond openly and respectfully because many of you have been with Celoxis for years, and your experience matters deeply to us.
The v15 update has introduced changes that require unlearning habits built over a long time, and thatβs never easy.Β
2.Β Resource units and percentage conversions:Β We have fixed this issue and the numbers should be looking correct now. If you still observe any issues, reach out to my success team who is there 24 X 5 to help.
But I do want to gently mention to everyone that Celoxis has always delivered a depth of capability that many tools in our space simply do not offer, and the only reason we were able to grow this strong community is because of the trust and partnership weβve all built together over the years.
Rashmi,
A lot of your reply reads as though Celoxis is βfixingβ functions that were never broken. You mentioned that the removal of hourly allocation was communicated earlier this year, but you also received clear negative feedback from the community at the same time. Proceeding anyway shows a decision to ignore that feedback. Expecting every customer to now manually calculate percentages for multi-resource tasks is unreasonable. One of the platformβs strongest features was the ability to assign exact hours per resource within a single task. That efficiency has now been replaced with an extra 5β10 minutes of work per task. This is objectively a degraded user experience and needs to be addressed.
3. Gantt Behaviour
New task on Enter/Tab: This behaviour was not broken in v14. The change has no practical benefit and actively slows users down. This should be reverted.
Delete popup: This should be an organisation-level setting. Users who manage tasks carefully should not be penalised because other organisations struggle with accidental deletions.
4. Washed-out colours
This should be customisable at a user level. Many users deal with varying forms of colour-vision deficiency. Locking everyone into a single muted colour palette removes clarity and reduces usability β an area v14 excelled in.
Finally, we have already been compiling a full spreadsheet of structured feedback from our entire team. However, if these key issues β which many in the community have repeatedly raised β are not addressed, we have little confidence that any of our additional feedback will be taken seriously either.
At this point, the community is unified in calling out the same problems. Addressing these key items quickly is critical if Celoxis intends to retain long-term customers.
Most of my issues were resolved after speaking with support and understanding where the various menu items had been moved to.
However, some elements, such as the location for task bar colouring have shifted to completely different parts of the UI. Thatβs fine, but changes of this nature really need an updated video or knowledge-base article. At the very least, this should be provided before forcing all users onto a new UI.
Iβm still on the fence about the percentage-based effort allocation. Iβm open to someone explaining why this is a better workflow and why we should adopt it but right now it feels like the hour-based method was removed without a clear reason. I donβt see how having it available as a option could have caused end user confusion or be a technical issue/limitation. Why not just make the % based method the βdefaultβ so new users start with that, with the option for users who prefer the old hours-based method to go into the settings and set it to our preference?Β
Β
Edit: Regarding the colours- I'm actually finding if i "re apply" the colours that were set during the previous version UI, they go from being pale colours, to much stronger colours.Β
