Our team is not happy with this update. It's quite rough around the edges. There are some things you have fixed from our last round of feedback, but then other issues that you have introduced with this update.

    • Stop asking me to delete tasks that I am intentionally deleting
    • Stop adding a new task in GANTT each time I finish adding a previous task
    • No longer being able to schedule resources via hour increments within 1 task prevents any form of flexibility and kills a major aspect of collaboration for our team, now adding more time to our processes.

You have rolled this out without collecting new feedback since the previous beta. This is bad customer experience.

The loss of the ability to schedule resources via hour increments within 1 task has my organization considering other software tools. Rolling to v15 has been a major downgrade in the power of the tool for managing resource allocations week-to-week.Β

I need more time in v15 to determine whether the UI changes have any efficiency gains anywhere, but at our organization we manage shared resources across 20-30 projects, and the loss of the ability to enter time in hours results in huge efficiency losses in resource management. The efficiency loss is to the point that we would pay more for the v14 version of the tool than for the v15 version and we are actively looking at competitive tools.Β

This update has numerous problems, which have been noted by other users in the notes above.Β  This is just a partial list after 1 day of use.

    1. Removing the ability to schedule resources using planned effort hours significantly impairs the ability to balance the workload when resources are shared across different projects.Β  Balancing the Workload (by resource) seems much more challenging.Β  It is unclear why you made this change since Celoxis already has to calculate the effort by resource (in hours) for the Workload report -- so why not allow the user to enter the effort in hours instead of percentage?

    2. The Resource "Units" does not appear to be calculating properly.Β  A task with duration 2 days and total planned effort of 24 hours shared across 3 resources is showing 16% units for one resource, 8% units for second resource, 0% units for third resource.Β  This totals only 3.84 hours.Β  This makes no sense.Β  I had saved a backup prior to the upgrade and it was 16h to one resource, 8h to a second resource, 0h to the third resource.Β  16+8h = 24h total planned effort is correct; how did the hours get converted to % units??

    3. Timesheet - no "close" button to return to previous page.Β  Buggy - various UX issues our team has experienced.Β  Hard to see the project name (small font / light gray).

    4. Approvals > Approve Time - much harder to use. Cannot easily select multiple users to see all time entries at once.Β  No close / back button to return to previous screen.

    5. Gantt - page view has less visible space, not more.Β  Printing Gantt schedule issues.Β  Fit option for schedule view scaling does not work.Β  Enter key after editing creates a new task.Β  So you have to click out of a task in order to not create a new task unintentionally?Β  And then type "delete" to delete it?

    6. Reports - numerous formatting issues with printing.

    1. Not being able to assign hours to a task only % is a massive loss. I'm assuming at this point its a bug and we are actually meant to be able to. Otherwise I can't understand why you would remove that feature.
    2. In schedule view, the tasks are custom colours from previous work in the old version, but in the new one i cant edit colours now? The option is missing in the menu. Also the colours are very washed out now, so its hard to see them properly.Β
    3. In schedule view the "fit" view just compresses the schedule to a day, and pushes it to the right.
    4. Timesheet doesn't have option to pre-populate with scheduled tasks. People have to manually find the tasks now.
    5. Admin is missing the view to see all the active users to edit their options or to "view" what they'd see.Β
    6. The help chat button doesn't work!

It'd be great to have the option to roll back to the old UI while the new one is being beta tested.

To be blunt, I haven't come across one change that has been an improvement. Even navigating the interface is now a chore.

    • Unable to open any projects or tasks in new browser tabs or windows. All navigation is forced to one window like a smartphone app.
    • Scroll bars are comically small.
    • Enter/return after editing any field in the schedule view automatically highlights the next row for editing.
    • Adjusting predecessors to move tasks condenses the duration bar prior to saving the change.
    • Unable to set task resource beyond 100%. This now forces us to add additional tasks to account for activities that require more than 1 resource.
    • The browser back button withing Celoxis is now as unreliable as a smartphone back button.
    • In general, all displayed information now occupies more screen real estate.

The list goes on, but V15 is a downgrade in every way we use the product. If the UI moves forward in this state, we won't be renewing our license.

After using Celoxis v15 for over a week, I can confidently say it provides no meaningful improvement over v14 for our business. If the primary objective of v15 was to enhance UI/UX and overall efficiency, Celoxis has unfortunately fallen way short.

Roll this update back, or we are moving on. We have spent years working within Celoxis and its structure. If we had wanted to learn a NEW tool, we would have gone out and found one... guess what... now we are looking at alternative solutions...Β

Thank you everyone for sharing such detailed feedback. I want to respond openly and respectfully because many of you have been with Celoxis for years, and your experience matters deeply to us.

The v15 update has introduced changes that require unlearning habits built over a long time, and that’s never easy.Β

Let me address the key points raised here:
    Β
    1. Removing the ability to allocate in hours:Β Earlier this year we communicated that v15 would move to a unifiedΒ percentage-based allocation model, and we provided previews for teams to explore the impact, not once, but twice. My Success team has worked hard with some of you to understand if you have looked at this.Β We should have emphasized the operational impact more strongly β€” and that part is on us, but we have always been upfront.

@Nathan White, the 2nd point you mentioned has been fixed.Β
    Β
But let me explain this for everyone:
    - For tasks with single resource allocated in hours, please use the Planned Effort column and you will keep working the same way.
    - For tasks with multiple resources, you will need to allocate % instead of the hours.
    Taking an example,
    - Β Task duration = 3 weeksΒ
    - Standard day = 8 hrs.Β
    - Resources need different hours: Β R1 β†’ 10 hours Β R2 β†’ 50 hours Β R3 β†’ 60 hours
How the PM would enter it in Celoxis
    Β  Β
Resource Hours Needed % You Should Enter
    R1 10h 8%
    R2 50h 42%
    R3 60h 50%
    Β

2.Β Resource units and percentage conversions:Β We have fixed this issue and the numbers should be looking correct now. If you still observe any issues, reach out to my success team who is there 24 X 5 to help.
    Β
    3. Gantt Behavior:Β
    - I understand the issue with Enter key adding new task - all of us were used to certain key strokes, and if I am honest, I did that too when I started using the new Gantt causing new tasks to be added instead of just closing the edit screen. It is all about habit. You should now use the β€œtab” key instead of Enter key and you will have the same smooth experience.
    Β
    - The β€œDelete” popup was introduced to avoid unintentional deletions. We receive a minimum of 10 tickets everyday from customers that have accidentally deleted a task. Despite the confirmation box, the task would be deleted. Since we do not recover individual tasks, this would lead to bad experience. So, we changed this behaviour to make it an informed step. Also, most tools you’d interact with have the same behaviour.Β
    Β
    - Some of these are issues - Β Fit-to-view compressing schedules,Β Duration bar shrinking until save, etc which we have fixed.Β These are UI/UX regressions, not designed changes. They are being addressed.
    Β
    - Gantt printing - Printing Gantt, report printing is a complexΒ mechanism which is why most of the tools in market do not offer this ability. Different browsers have different behaviour and hence at times you see issues. Some issues we have fixed, but these are tricky and we are working on it.
    Β
    - Visibility of Gantt is less - @Nathan, do you see this when you open the Gantt in full screen mode?
    Β
    4. Washed out colors - This becomes a personal choice and I get that. Some of us prefer vivid colours while some prefer these "washed-off” themes. We offer what most of the applications look these days. We will offer more options in future.
    Β
5.Β Unable to set task resource beyond 100% - This is fixed now.
On a general note, there have been issues, but we are working round the clock to fix them.
    Β
    6. Β Timesheet screen - We hear you and my team is already at work to inculcate the feedback you have given. I’ll update this thread when the patch goes out.
Β - @Nick Trevean, Can you ensure the β€œPrefill timesheet with workitems” is set to Auto.
    - Β  The Chat option is available for first 3 months after signing up.Β For the Users under Admin, it is accessible under the LHS menu with same options to see Active users.
    Β
    7. Scroll bars, browser back, opening multiple session -Β I know many of you became incredibly efficient using the older navigation pattern, and the new one definitely changes your rhythm. We will look at improving this as we move along.
    Β
I know change is uncomfortable, especially for long-time customers who have built habits over years. But the foundation we’ve introduced in v15 is already helping new customers adopt faster.
    Β
If I may add one personal reflection β€” one painful change often overshadows years of stability, innovation, and reliability. It’s human nature; we all do it.
But I do want to gently mention to everyone that Celoxis has always delivered a depth of capability that many tools in our space simply do not offer, and the only reason we were able to grow this strong community is because of the trust and partnership we’ve all built together over the years.
    Β
This update has clearly created friction, but it doesn’t take away the foundation we’ve built, the value the platform delivers, or the pride we have in serving customers like you who run some of the most complex operations on Celoxis.
    Β
We are committed to improving quickly and ensuring that Celoxis continues to be a powerful, dependable system that grows with you β€” not away from you.

Thank you for caring enough to tell us what’s not working. It helps us move forward in the right way, together.

    Rashmi,

A lot of your reply reads as though Celoxis is β€œfixing” functions that were never broken. You mentioned that the removal of hourly allocation was communicated earlier this year, but you also received clear negative feedback from the community at the same time. Proceeding anyway shows a decision to ignore that feedback. Expecting every customer to now manually calculate percentages for multi-resource tasks is unreasonable. One of the platform’s strongest features was the ability to assign exact hours per resource within a single task. That efficiency has now been replaced with an extra 5–10 minutes of work per task. This is objectively a degraded user experience and needs to be addressed.

    3. Gantt Behaviour
New task on Enter/Tab: This behaviour was not broken in v14. The change has no practical benefit and actively slows users down. This should be reverted.
Delete popup: This should be an organisation-level setting. Users who manage tasks carefully should not be penalised because other organisations struggle with accidental deletions.

    4. Washed-out colours
This should be customisable at a user level. Many users deal with varying forms of colour-vision deficiency. Locking everyone into a single muted colour palette removes clarity and reduces usability β€” an area v14 excelled in.

Finally, we have already been compiling a full spreadsheet of structured feedback from our entire team. However, if these key issues β€” which many in the community have repeatedly raised β€” are not addressed, we have little confidence that any of our additional feedback will be taken seriously either.

At this point, the community is unified in calling out the same problems. Addressing these key items quickly is critical if Celoxis intends to retain long-term customers.

Most of my issues were resolved after speaking with support and understanding where the various menu items had been moved to.

However, some elements, such as the location for task bar colouring have shifted to completely different parts of the UI. That’s fine, but changes of this nature really need an updated video or knowledge-base article. At the very least, this should be provided before forcing all users onto a new UI.

I’m still on the fence about the percentage-based effort allocation. I’m open to someone explaining why this is a better workflow and why we should adopt it but right now it feels like the hour-based method was removed without a clear reason. I don’t see how having it available as a option could have caused end user confusion or be a technical issue/limitation. Why not just make the % based method the β€œdefault” so new users start with that, with the option for users who prefer the old hours-based method to go into the settings and set it to our preference?Β

    Β

Edit: Regarding the colours- I'm actually finding if i "re apply" the colours that were set during the previous version UI, they go from being pale colours, to much stronger colours.Β
